A night to remember...
With the entire venue available to you, including all of our play equipment and kitchen facilities, we're a unique venue for a children's celebration in the inner west. Our attentive team and modern cafe space ensure the perfect family friendly environment.
The perfect option if...
- You are happy to organise your own catering.
- You plan on having your event decorated (balloon garlands, dessert table, event stylist, etc).
- You are looking to reserve the venue for the whole evening (3 hours or more).
What you need to know
We include exclusive use of the play areas,
party rooms, cafe seating area and our kitchen.
Guest Numbers
We can accommodate up to 100 people for private functions.
Hire Timings
Private functions are available from 6:00pm.

We have a minimum hire time of 3 hours, with 30 minutes before and after to setup and pack down. The standard timings are:

Setup Time: 5:30pm to 6:00pm (we're unable to organise earlier entry)
Function: 6:00pm to 9:00pm
Packup: 9:00pm to 9:30pm
Private functions are self-catered with food brought in by the hirer (ensuring that all food is nut-free). We do not provide food or drinks for these events.

All cookware, platters & additional tableware, utensils etc to be provided by the hirer.

The kitchen has microwaves and a pie warmer that can be used.
You're also able to bring your own caterer to the venue.
Tumbles Team Member
One of our team members will be on hand throughout the evening to assist with setting up, answer any questions and ensure the appropriate use of the venue and play equipment.

*The fee for hiring the venue does not include the staff member being involved in the service of your function (ie. setting up the venue prior to your arrival, serving/preparing food and drinks, cutting the cake, taking out the rubbish, etc).
Sound System
You're welcome to use the sound system in the venue to play music. Bluetooth devices can connect to the system - eg, a mobile phone or tablet), or you can use a USB connector.
Photo Slideshow
The display screens are able to display a photo slideshow from a USB stick.
Wine and beer are permitted in the venue for private functions (no spirits, please).

Hire Fee
(for 3 hours)
$100 for each additional hour thereafter

How do I book a private function?
After you've completed an online inquiry, our Events team will be in touch regarding availability and the details you need to know about booking with us. How to pay your deposit will also be explained.

An automated confirmation email is sent after your deposit is paid and booking secured (please check your spam/junk folder if it doesn't appear in your inbox).

We suggest booking at least 6 weeks in advance to ensure the best chance of your preferred date being available.
Is a deposit payable?
Yes. $100 is payable when you make your booking. This can be paid securely online. This deposit is non-refundable within 4 weeks of your function date.

Can I book an earlier time or a daytime function?
Unfortunately, we can't organise an earlier time for evening private functions. You're welcome to access the venue from 5:30pm. Most bookings choose to allow 30 minutes for setup and start the function at 6:00pm.

Due to the high demand for party bookings and casual visitors, Tumbles Playhouse is not available for daytime private hire.
Can I decorate?
You sure can! A reminder that only blu-tack can be used to hang items on the walls (no tape, or temporary hooks), and no glitter/confetti is to be brought into the venue. The 30 minutes prior to your function starting at 6:00pm can be used for decorating and setting up.

If you have an event stylist/planner to coordinate the decorating, they will have access to the venue from 5:30pm.
Am I able to bring my own food?
Yes! We do not offer catering for private fuctions. Please ensure all items are nut-free.

If you've organised a caterer, they're able to access the venue and kitchen from 5:30pm.
Are we able to bring alcohol?

Tumbles Playhouse permits beer and wine in the venue, restricted to the cafe seating area.
Spirits are not permitted.
What ages are best suited to a party at Tumbles?
We've found that children celebrating their 1st birthday, up to their 6th birthday, get the most out of a party at Tumbles. There's plenty to keep children of these ages entertained and busy, and the menus suit them perfectly.

The play equipment is suitable for children from 9 months to 10 years of age (something to keep in mind when putting together your guest list).
Is there parking available?
We have a small carpark as part of our building, but there is free parking for up to 60 vehicles along Champion Road.
